Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on healing modality that focuses on the wave-like rhythmic pulse that goes through the entire body. This therapy stems from osteopathy, which is an approach that emphasizes the role of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease. Deep tissue massage works through layers of muscle in order to relieve chronic tension. Swedish massage uses broad, flowing effleurage strokes to relax large muscle groups. It is often used to warm the tissues before applying deeper pressure. This modality is perfect for clients who may be experiencing stress in their lives and need help to relax. Physiologically the body can’t tell the difference between an imagined threat and a physical threat. Emotional stress can manifest itself physically by triggering the body to undergo temporary changes in response to this perceived threat. This state is commonly referred to as “fight or flight”. When someone is constantly stressed out, the body can become stuck in this state. Over time this can lead to detrimental health issues. Massage can help to bring the body back into balance by calming the nervous system and allowing it to return to a relaxed, healthy state.
Myofacial Release and Trigger Point Therapy: Myofacial and Trigger Point Therapy techniques are effective in addressing specific issues, both chronic and acute. These modalities will aid in healing soft tissue injuries and reducing chronic pain by helping to return blood flow to oxygen deprived tissues in the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Over time, clients should begin to experience an increased range of motion due to a reduction in muscular and connective tissue adhesions. These sessions are typically done in a wellness package of 6 weeks in approximately 8 weeks time to effectively treat the problem and will also come with suggested stretches to speed recovery.
Sports massage is great for enhancing athletic performance. Using deep flushing strokes and various muscle energy techniques along with both passive and active stretching, clients should begin to experience healthier muscle tone and increased flexibility. This work helps to prepare for athletic events and recovery from a sports related injury. This modality helps maintain optimal tissue health and support you in an active lifestyle. Sports massage is great for athletes of all types. This style of bodywork is based on lengthening muscle by stretching and “flushing” toxins out of hard working tissue.
